Beatification of the Ulma Family in Markowa

September 10, 2023 saw the solemn beatification of the Ulma Family of Markowa, a family that was murdered by the Nazis during World War II for hiding Jews. The event took place in the picturesque village of Markowa in the Subcarpathian region of
and attracted nearly 42,000 participants, including top government officials and clergy. As the agency, we were responsible for the logistics and construction of the infrastructure needed to organize such an event.
CHALLENGES
Site logistics
- Conversion of an agricultural area and sports field into a suitable venue for a mass religious gathering
- Provide access to drinking water, toilets, rest areas and other facilities for participants.
- Creation of a central stage and sound system suitable for an open area.
- Development of parking spaces for participants and adaptation of access for the disabled.
Coordination of the interests of the three parties:
- Cooperation with the church in matters of liturgy, ceremonies and all requirements related to the religious ceremony.
- Communication with authorities and control units to obtain necessary permits, coordinate sanitary security (sanepid) and crisis management.
- Effective cooperation with subcontractors
- Develop an evacuation and crisis management plan that takes into account various scenarios. The course of outdoor events depends on the weather. The beatification took place on a sunny and hot day. Our primary goal was to provide possible quick assistance to pilgrims in case of fainting.
- Cooperate with law enforcement and medical services to ensure rapid response to emergencies.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities such as fire, police and medical services.
VIP logistics
- Planning and organizing services for top representatives, including providing special areas for VIPs. Coordination of 4 chancellery areas.
- Cooperation with the SOP in securing an event attended by top politicians.
